You will need to pack 2 bags –

Bags should have your name marked on them

  1. LaGrange Bag this will be the bag that is in your cabin when you arrive in LaGrange.

    • This will also be the bag that gets transported back to Houston and never goes to Austin.

    • Plan accordingly to split up your gear for the right day.

    • Be reasonable on size we have to transport almost 100 gear bags!

  2. Austin Bag (UBG Backpack will be the ONLY bag accepted at luggage turn-in)

    • This will be the bag ONLY going to Austin It does not go to LaGrange

    • Do not pack anything that you will want in LaGrange as the bag goes straight to Austin.

    • This bag should contain your change of clothes and towel for after completion of the ride.

    • There are shower trucks close by our Austin team tent. Plan to go to the showers as soon as possible

      before they get too crowded.

    Route to LaGrange

  • Leave at 6:40 am as a group

  • Ride slow to moderate pace for 2 miles to join the main route on Clay Road

  • There will be a lead car for our safety until just before merging on Clay Road. Do NOT PASS!!!

  • You will want to skip 1st rest stop as it is only 4 miles or so from our start

  • Recommend skipping 2nd rest stop as well (13 miles in) as it is always crowded and you want to get as far out

front as possible to have less traffic the remainder of the day. This means going a total of 28 miles to the next

    rest stop.

  • Lunch is in Bellville at mile 42. UBG always meets by the concrete picnic tables to the right as you enter. We will

try to regroup and leave out together for the rest of the route.

  • DO NOT SPEND TOO MUCH TIME IN BELLVILLE FOR LUNCH AS THIS WILL MAKE FOR A LONG DAY

  • Do your best to skip a few rest stops as every stop means you will take that much longer to get to LaGrange.

Average stops end up being 10-15 minutes due to crowds. This can add hours to your day. Arrival into LaGrange (2 options)
    Option #1 - Finish Line

  • Crossing the finish line is a great experience that everyone should do at least once

  • Follow the volunteers and other riders and you will be directed across the finish

  • Suggest that you find a quick turnaround or you will be funneled into the village and it may take a while to get

back to entrance. Option #2 - Skip the Finish

  • Stay far to the left as you approach the Fairgrounds and carefully navigate the cones (watch traffic) and continue straight.

  • Volunteers will be trying to get you to turn into the fairgrounds but just tell them you are going straight.

  • Only route option this year due to our campsite is the main route no “Lunch Express”

  • The park is also closed.

  • Lunch comes early in Brenham and many skip it just to get to Austin faster.

  • The lunch stop seems to be the biggest time drain of any of them so be cautious about how much time you are

    taking at this break.

    team Facebook page for updates

  • Check in with a volunteer and sign the sheet and find your UBG backpack

  • Suggest going to the shower trucks as soon as possible as the lines get long

  • There will be food and drinks at the tent if you are hungry

  • Stop by the BP MS 150 tents to collect memorabilia such as a completion certificate and/or MS 150 pin.

Don’t forget to thank the UBG volunteers for helping us out. They are friends and relatives of UBG riders who were kind enough to step in and offer their support.
