Paved Off-Street Bike Trails
Location:
follows White Oak Bayou along TC Jester from 11th street north to Pinemont
Description:
A relatively new ,wide paved trail that runs along a strip of greenspace about 8 miles long.As far as scenery goes in Houston this is pretty good- a lot of green, some nice neighborhoods on either side. This is a very convenient place for riders from the following neighborhoods:Heights, Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, Candlelight, Timbergrove ,Lazy Brook and Rice Military.
Location:
Bounded on the north and south by Memorial and Allen Parkway. On the east and west by Shepherd and Sawyer.
Description:
A fun 5 mile loop that has a great view of the downtown skyline. It has some climbs and descents, some sculptures strewn about and a little connector trail that goes under the bridge on Sawyer taking you into downtown right past the Aquarium on a well-landscaped little bayou trail that ends at UH Downtown.
Location:
Follows Braeswood and the Braes Bayou from Macgregor Park (just south of UH Central) east past Herman Park past Fondren. You can Park in Macgregor Park or Herman Park.If you park in Herman, head south across Macgregor to the bayou.
Description:
This is the longest trail in town covering about 15 miles one way. It’s got some climbs and descents, some green space here and there but the primary feature is a wide concrete ditch with a sliver of water at the bottom.I like some parts of it better than others. The best thing about it is that you can get a fairly long ride that stays off the street.
Location:
Take I-10 west to Eldridge exit , turn left to Memorial, turn right go about a half mile to parking lot.
Description:
The gem of the Houston bike trails. At least 10 or 15 miles of smooth pavement, great landscaping, rolling hills, scenic beauty. The only bad thing about it is how crowded it can get on nice weekends. |
