2013 Tern Folding Bicycle Recall

One of the recalled Tern bicycles.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Tern Bicycles has voluntarily issued a safety recall on its Eclipse S11i and Verge S11i, X10, X20 and X30h models manufactured between September 2011 and March 2012.They were sold at Stile/Tern dealers nationwide from January, 2012 to May, 2013 for between $1,800 and $3,000. The weld between the main tube and the OCL Joint may crack on affected frames, posing a fall hazard to the consumer.

The 20-inch wheel Verge models were sold in Silver/Black, Orange/White, Red/Black and Yellow/Grey color combinations. “Tern” is printed on the front end of the top tube and on portions of the frame. The model name is printed on the middle of the top tube. If the 10-character alphanumeric serial number on your bottom bracket begins with AM1A, or from AM1102 through AM1207, your frame may be affected. If so, check the alphanumeric service tag number located on the front of the seat tube here.

If you have one of these recalled bikes, please stop riding it immediately and return it to your nearest authorized Tern retailer for a free replacement frame.
