A variety of ethnicities,  nationalities and cultural backgrounds ensure that the company's point of view is seasoned by many different kinds of eyes and that its product is tested in all kinds of conditions. With offices in the United States, England, Germany, China, Switzerland and beyond, Tern is designing, testing and riding its products 24 hours a day in some part of the world.

Environmentally Minded. A commitment to sustainability is central to Tern. It starts with the product — bicycles — which are the ultimate high-efficiency vehicle. It also extends to how Tern makes its products — from quality materials and designed to be serviceable rather than land-fillable. And Tern is constantly searching for ways to reduce its impact, like minimizing packaging, specifying recycled cardboard, and reducing use of harmful chemicals like chromium. Tern is also committed to environmentally responsible transportation: 15 percent of Tern employees bike or walk to work; 75 percent take the bus, train or scooter; and only 10 percent drive to work.

Committed to Improving Things. Tern gives at least 1 percent of its profits, every year, to environmental or social causes.
